03Record of practice

Built on research. Grown by word of mouth.

1981
The researchFounder Rob White was a key member of the research team that identified the first chemical biocides to be effective against Legionella pneumophila in industrial cooling systems.
Early 1990s
The shiftWith real-world experience behind him and global awareness of legionella rising, Rob saw an impending shift in the industry towards water hygiene services for the control of microorganisms — a relatively untapped area of the market.
1995
Waterline, later WhitewaterWaterline was created to provide those services, later becoming Whitewater. Since then the company has thrived organically on high-quality water management for legionella control and industrial water treatment.

04How we work

Compliance that holds up when somebody asks to see it.

Duty holders don't need more paperwork. They need a water estate that is genuinely under control, and records that prove it.

iSurveyed before it is scoped
We walk the site and read the existing records before anything is quoted, so the scheme matches your asset register rather than a standard package resized to fit.
iiOur own engineers on site
Directly employed field staff allocated to named sites. The person who carries out the task is the person who signs the record, and they come back next visit.
iiiAnalysis in our own laboratory
Samples go to our UKAS accredited laboratory, so the evidence behind every entry in the logbook holds up when an auditor or a regulator asks to see it.
ivFindings raised the day we find them
Out-of-specification results, failing plant and unworkable schemes are reported immediately with a costed option — not bundled into a quarterly summary.
05Where we work

Estates we know well.

Different buildings, same discipline — understand the system, keep it under control, document it properly.

  • Healthcare and NHS estates
  • Higher and further education
  • Local authority and social housing
  • Data centres and critical facilities
  • Manufacturing and process industry
  • Commercial offices and managed property
  • Hotels and leisure
  • District heating and energy centres

Next step

Tell us about the site and we'll tell you what it needs.

A survey visit, a review of your existing records, then a written proposal with scope, frequency and cost. No obligation to proceed.
