02Laboratory & monitoring

Accredited analysis, reported so you can act on it.

Our UKAS accredited laboratory handles samples from our own engineers and from third parties, alongside environmental water and air quality monitoring programmes built around your consents and your plant.

Analytical suites

A result is only useful if it tells you what to do next.

Every report states the method, the limit, the trend and — where a result is out of specification — the recommended action and who needs to know about it.

Defensible methods
Accredited methods and documented chain of custody, so results stand up to audit and regulator scrutiny.
Turnaround that suits the job
Standard and priority turnaround options, with interim notification on legionella positives.
  • S1

    Legionella and microbiology

    • Legionella species by culture
    • Total viable counts at 22°C and 37°C
    • Coliforms, E. coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa
    • Post-disinfection clearance sampling
  • S2

    Potable and domestic water

    • Drinking water chemistry and metals
    • Nitrate, nitrite and hardness
    • Lead and copper at outlet
    • Taste, odour and appearance investigations
  • S3

    Cooling, boiler and closed systems

    • Inhibitor, conductivity and alkalinity
    • Iron, copper and total suspended solids
    • Sulphate-reducing and nitrifying bacteria
    • Dip slides and on-site screening support
  • S4

    Environmental and effluent

    • Trade effluent and consent to discharge
    • BOD, COD and suspended solids
    • Surface water, groundwater and borehole
    • Hydrocarbons and heavy metals

Scopes of accreditation vary by method — we confirm the accredited status of each determinand with your quotation.

Monitoring programmes

Beyond the building: discharges, watercourses and the air around the plant.

Environmental water monitoring

If your site holds a discharge consent or trade effluent agreement, the programme has to match the permit. We design the sampling schedule, carry out the visits and report in a format your regulator and your internal auditors both accept.

  • Consent to discharge and trade effluent sampling
  • Surface water, groundwater and borehole programmes
  • Sampling point surveys and access risk assessment
  • Exceedance notification and investigation support

Air quality monitoring

Water risk doesn't stop at the pipework. We assess indoor air quality and sample around cooling, humidification and ventilation plant, so aerosol-related risk is picked up alongside the water hygiene regime.

  • Indoor air quality surveys and ventilation checks
  • Microbiological air sampling and surface swabbing
  • Monitoring around cooling towers and humidifiers
  • Written findings with prioritised remedial actions

Sending samples

Sampling with us, or sending your own.

  1. 01

    Request a sample kit

Tell us the analysis you need and we send bottles, written sampling instructions and pre-printed chain of custody paperwork.

  2. 02

    Sample and record

Your team samples to the written method, or ours attends site and samples as part of a routine service visit.

  3. 03

    Return to the laboratory

Samples come back within holding times using the supplied packaging and logistics route.

  4. 04

    Receive the report

Results are issued with method, limit, trend and recommended action. Legionella positives are flagged the day they are confirmed.

Next step

Need analysis, a monitoring programme, or both?

Send us the determinands, the frequency and the site constraints. We'll come back with a scope, a turnaround and a price.
