Forty years of legionella know-how, in a company that still turns up.
Whitewater began with one researcher's head start on the science and grew, client by client, into a UK-wide water management business. The science is still what we lead with.
- Trading since
- 1995
- Growth
- Organic, client by client
- Team
- Directly employed engineers
Since 1995, Whitewater has thrived organically by providing high-quality water management services for the control of legionella bacteria and industrial water treatment.
We have never been the biggest name in water treatment, and we haven't tried to be. The business has grown because clients stay and recommend us — which only happens if the engineer who visits knows the site, the reports are honest, and problems get raised before they become incidents.
Founder
Rob White
Founder Rob White was a key member of the research team in 1981 that identified the first chemical biocides to be effective against Legionella pneumophila in industrial cooling systems — work that shaped how the industry controls the organism to this day.
Having gained real-world experience, and with global awareness of legionella rising, Rob saw an impending shift in the industry towards water hygiene services for the control of microorganisms, particularly legionella — a relatively untapped area of the market. With this, Waterline was created to provide those services, later becoming Whitewater.
Whitewater has since enjoyed over 25 years of trading. We are a field service operation with a qualified, experienced and pragmatic team delivering a high-quality service across the UK.
History
From a research bench to a national field team.
- 1981
The research that started it
Rob White was a key member of the research team that identified the first chemical biocides to be effective against Legionella pneumophila in industrial cooling systems.
- Early 1990s
Spotting the shift
With real-world experience behind him and global awareness of legionella rising, Rob saw an impending shift in the industry towards water hygiene services for the control of microorganisms, particularly legionella — a relatively untapped area of the market at the time.
- 1995
Waterline is created
Waterline was founded to provide those services, later becoming Whitewater. From the start the business grew organically, on the quality of the work rather than by acquisition.
- Today
Over 25 years of trading
Whitewater is a field service operation with a qualified, experienced and pragmatic team delivering a high-quality service across the UK, backed by a UKAS accredited laboratory.
Practice
Pragmatic is the word our clients use most.
- We survey before we quote
- A proposal written from a desk guesses at the assets. We walk the site first, so the scope matches the building and you aren't paying for tasks the system doesn't need.
- The same faces come back
- Directly employed engineers allocated to sites rather than rotated around them. They learn the quirks of your plant, which is how small problems get spotted early.
- We say what we found
- If a scheme is unworkable, a tank is beyond repair or a result is bad, you hear it plainly and get a costed option for putting it right.
